Call me crazy, but I am heading to Grapevine lake this morning. Heavy rain and Thunder Storms all night and its just tapering off. Let see what happens.
A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.

Good luck. I'm still trying to figure where I'm going after work today.
Let's have some fun!

Watch where you walk on the bank around Grapevine. With the Corp dropping the lake so quickly the last few weeks it really has left the banks soft. I stepped out of the boat the other day and my shoe went close to a foot deep in clay. Almost lost my it as well. The clay looks a lot like the rocks. My son did the same thing. The crappie have been hard to find up shallow. If you find some black and chartreuse have been working well on the crappie in the slips about 6-10 ft deep. You may try out the cove behind the restaurant at Twin Coves Marina. I have been seeing bass chasing shad in the back of that cove lately. Hoped it was big spawning crappie, but no such luck yet. Hope that helps you catch a few fish.

Not to shabby this morning, caught a few dinks off Texas Rigged Water Melon 6' worms. All were chasing shad on the closed boat ramp on Catfish Ln. on the South West side of the lake. Then the wind picked up. I am sure the Thunderstorms scared the shad right out of the bass and they took to the deeper stuff (not good for a bank fisher at a large lake). Tried to locate some Whites or Crappie around some submurged timber using some tube jigs with a bobber float above with no luck what so ever. However I did talk with some locals who said they have been slaying the Sandies out by the dam where the shad are staging. Looking over in that direction I did notice a lot of birds flying out that ways.

Working Grapevine lake tomorrow morning. Will start at sun up on Catfish Lane (The old boat houses). It is right off Dove Loop close to oak grove park. We will work our way east from there.
