At some point the District Attorneys, Judges, and Texas Department of Criminal Justice Parole Division need to all get on the same page with repeat offenders, and the fact that it's the taxpayers who are paying their salaries and that are the ones who are greatly effected by this!!!!!!!!!!!!

Local law enforcement is not to blame here, its the ones delivering the sentences and the ones releasing these thieves.

Why would someone steal a trailer license plate?

To put on their trailer, because they don't want to have to pay the tax-assessor to register it.

Guess that makes sense. I was thinking maybe junkies selling them as alum. scrap?? Probably take a lot of plates to get a fix.

They probably are using them for other trailers they steal to transport them. Do a little research and you will find that there is a huge stolen trailer business out there.

Dang would of never thought that a licenses plate would be stolen...

Oh heck, I heard about this at Fork last year.
Been going on for some time.
When I bought a used boat last year the lady in Quitman
that sells boat tags said it's been a problem longer than that.

Mine is screwed to the frame (self tapping) and 2 of the screws are busted off(on purpose).

With the bad storms in Texas your license plates probably can use to dump trash at the city dump. Free dump for a first time plates, that what i was told from a friend.

Mine is bolted to the frame of the trailer with security screws. Preventive. However, I'd say with pretty good confidence that about half of these "stolen plates" are busted off plates from the ramp, road debris, or just cheap plastic rotting and breaking. Kinda like the cheap plastic that Humminbird uses on their Helix brackets. Haha. I have broken two of three mounts now and ALL three transducer mounts.

I had my 4$ brake fluid cap stolen from there. 4 freakin dollars... I'd like to say I would have given them 4 bucks to go buy one but I probably would have told them to get a damn job. Hate to hear your plates got stole. That's frustrating

My good friends storage unit was broken into yesterday, 39 rods and reels gone, along with a generator. Thieves suck to a degree that I can't describe.

The worst thing I had stolen while out fishing was my trailing wiring adapter to my truck. I didn't notice it until I tried to back up and the brakes kept coming on. Fortunately, I had the little key that overrides my brakes or I wouldn't have been able to retrieve my boat. I figure that was their goal, so they could get a shot at my boat. Now I carry two wiring adapters if this happens again.

I have worried about having the same item stolen and carry another spare just for that reason. It's sad that thieves will steal even that item. My spare is cabled to the frame along with the bracket so that taking either is no longer simple. I probably need to add locks for the wheels on the ground too.
