Will be in Houston the last weekend of this this month for a wedding. Planning to sneak in some fishing. Taking my brother in law from OKC. He never fished the coast before. What lures should I be using this time of the year? Size, color, your goto lures, etc...? Thanks.

Yea. Got waders.

Either the fishing is really good and nobody wants to tip that off, or fishing is really terrible and nobody knows what lures will trigger a bite. LoL.

Are the specks and reds not biting? We can catch channels up here.

1/4 and 1/8 oz long shank jigheads, some soft plastics, maybe GULP 4 inch in a variety of colors, a big spinner bait for reds or a gold spoon, a bone colored or red/white topdawg, or something similar like a spook on 14 test mono with a 12 in steel cable or fluro leader...or braid...whichever you prefer....on a med light rod.

I'd take a few popping cork rigs too....different depths.

Been a long time since I've been there, but those ought to get you started.

If you can get live shrimp or croaker, try those too.
Fish a moving tide only. Otherwise, take a nap.

Hope this helps !

Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

Topwata early, topwata late, topwata if it is cloudy, topwata if its raining, topwata if its sunny and they'll eat it. Did I mention topwata? Oh, and some bass assassins and 1/8 oz jig heads for when they won't eat topwata!

Also what Old Frog said...........

Thanks. I wasn't sure if topwater would be good this time of the year or not.
