I've asked JP to start a Alabama Fishing forum, but so far he keeps ignoring me. So I'll start with my first fishing adventure in where else but Tennessee!
My boat is still not yet ready for its first Alabama maiden voyage. So my long time friend Don, suggested we try fishing for rainbow trout below Tim's Ford, about an hours drive from Huntsville, AL. Saturday morning looked great as we entered the Elk River below the dam.
Wasn't long Don caught the first rainbow. Typical stocker size trout.
Fishing was hit or miss for most of the morning. We noticed the ones who got there at dawn had no problem catching their limit of seven trout. We just got a late start. But the rainbows kept us entertained, until disaster struck. The swarm of kayakers that started to appear shortly after noon.
We soon learned to abandon all hope of a quiet fishing trip on the river and bailed out. We drove down to the take out crossing 5 miles downstream. Again entered the Elk and started wading downstream from the take out. The rainbows were there and they were hungry! We finished out our limit in less than 20 minutes of fishing.
The boat will be lake worthy soon. Hopefully, I'll be posting pictures of my fishing adventures on Lakes Guntersville and Wheeler. Until then, I know where I can catch a few trout to cure my fishing illness.
