Fished a local creek the other day before this latest rain event!Got 1.05" of rain last night. The creek bite was on fire and I caught a bunch of nice sunnies. The Bluegill and Redbreast were plentiful. Fish were in the 7 to 8 inch range with a couple going into the 9" range. Rounding out the catch were a few hybrid sunfish and some nice Longear. Did not see any fish on nest but the spawn is getting close. Several of the Bluegill were urinating after the catch. Fish were located a couple of feet by the bank either by brush piles or overhanging tree limbs. The Longear were located at the end of light rapids. Creek was in excellent shape with a good current. Worms with a bottom technique was used. All fish were released. A great day creek fishing. It just don't get any better!. fish

Very nice! Are the skeeters and chiggers out down where you are?

Last time I went in to heavy vegetation like that, I got tore up. Even with Ultrathon applied.

Thanks MulGogiHunter for the reply! cheers I spray some off around my head and on my pants. I also put some on my arms and spray around both pants legs. eeks It works very good. dance2 Have no problems with the skeeters or other insects. coolio You really need to watch out for the fire ant beds, spiders, and snakes, not to mentions slippery banks, and holes. nuts

Side Note: I have been lucky throughout the years and have had very few problems fishing the creek beds. I love fishing creeks this time of year. thumb

Great pictures and post as always, Chuck. Thanks for sharing.

That water looks really shallow.

Nice post Chuck. Fished a creek last week with the fly rod and did pretty good. Caught a lot of Redbreast and Hybrid sunfish. All fat and in the 7 to 8 inch range. Creek was in great shape. woot

Side Note: Picked up two Rios also. What is your take on the creek Rio bite for this year?

Thanks Curtis for the reply. cheers Right now I have been catching more fish in the creeks than anywhere else. hmmm All the river lakes are taking on a lot of water from Canyon Lake and have strong currents. hammer The water is also cold. eeks Fishing for sunnies on the Guadalupe so far has been a little slow. nuts Creek fishing on the other hand has been pretty good. coolio Getting good quality fish in good numbers. dance2 As for the Rio bite on the creeks I have caught a few but nothing big. It should be getting better as we approach the summer months. thumb

Thanks Chuck. Mcqueeney and Placid has slowed down a lot since the Canyon Lake water let out. Still getting pretty good numbers of Crappie further east! Current is not so bad. Did not make it out this weekend because to the the river lakes being a muddy mess. Looks like a dry spell will be around this week. Will try getting out mid week.

Side Note: Have not put much time on the creeks yet!
