 Electronics Flickering when I crank the big motor~

Been noticing the last couple of trips that when I crank the big motor my lowrance units dim down and get bright until it gets cranked up. Am I correct in assuming its about time to replace the cranking battery? Probably a silly question, but I'm pretty ignorant and still very new to owning a boat.

You are correct. Mine started doing this last year and the cranking battery was at fault.

Sounds like the cranking amps are weak. Have it load tested to verify

Yep, time for a new cranking battery. Once the voltage pulls down below threshold voltage during starting, your locators will power down.

Not sure but I know the new Bass Cats have a 8ga wire ran to the console. The graphs are directly wired to that without fuses. Seems to help.

You are correct, not much voltage drop with big wire. But if battery voltage drops during cranking at battery, locators will power down.

2 brand new 1000 cca batteries in the last 6 months and the new HDS-12 G3 still flutters or goes black when cranking! doesn't turn off!
the LCX25 that it replaced never did that!!!
I love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning !!!

Take a multimeter and test it. Also check the connections, make sure they are clean/tight.
