Hello all, New to the forums and the Dallas area and wanted some advice about where to start on this lake for some slabs. I'll be there in a couple of weeks with my little boys for a mini vacation and any help would be appreciated. Please know.... I am not a "sandbagger" looking for your "honey hole;" I respect the fishing community too much for that. But again, any water depth, general areas, etc. are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum...I have never fished the lake...however we rode up there Sat. To look at the state park and just checking things out for our spring camp out. I talked with two different crappie fisherman, one was catching a lot of fish off the,21 bridge, mainly at night and early mornings...the other gentlemen and his wife were catching some nice slabs in 2-6 foot of water, still full of eggs.they were using both minnows and jigs...hope this helps. I'm also trying to put together a plan and educate my self on this lake.
The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

Go to Barefoot Bay on the dam end of the lake, and fish beneath the road bridge, by the pilings. IF by chance they are up shallow spawning, there's lots of good backwater behind the bridge. The dam end of the lake will be more clear that the rest of the lake. I saw somewhere that someone caught crappie off of Administration Point opposite Barefoot Bay. Probably the best ramps on the lake too. The main lake down there is mostly open and clear running. Not so elsewhere.
Good luck.
