I'd look at TripAdvisor.com and see what they say...had several places that looked good, but my family wanted to eat at The Big Texan and Cheddar's. I mean, Cheddar's ain't bad, but it's a chain...I like to try mom and pop type places when on vacation. Enjoy Montana!

Burgers - 1. Blue Sky...it's a great burger and there are two locations. 2) Coyote Bluff - featured on Man vs Food. Great burger. Steak - Local place called the Embers. Good Steak Italian - Vince's Pizza or Napoli's Asian - Ichibahn Noodle Bar, Taste of Thai, or Sakura (get the Crunchy Roll) Mexican - El Manantial (authentic but hard to find), El Bracero on 6th (very good) and next to Cowboy Gelato for desert. Chicken Fried Steak - Green Chile Willy's...get the Jalapeno Cream Gravy...thank me later.
Several chain Steak houses and Mexican joints...all pretty good.

My daughter used to live near Amarillo and says there is a pizza joint that has the best pizza she has ever eaten. And to put this in perspective, she has eaten Chicago-style in Chicago and New York-style in NYC. Can't remember the name but it reflects the temperature at which they cook the pizza.

Probably 575 Pizza.

Coyote Bluff if you like big juicy burgers. Blue Sky is ok but cannot compare in my opinion.

If you want to try Coyote Bluff be aware they close at two ( think) and re-open at five, so plan accordingly. It's also tiny, so you may have to wait. It is worth it though.

You would need to check hours and seating is limited. Pretty rustic building. Worth the planning and effort though.

of the burger joints mentioned, I prefer Coyote Bluff over Blue Mesa, but both are good.
I would avoid The Big Texan Steakhouse...it is a tourist trap with bad food. Lived in Amarillo for several years and only ate their once. Steaks are worse than what you would get at most chains, but the calf fries aren't bad.

Golden Light Caf on the old Route 66 Coyote Bluff
Both are great.
