Mark mentioned using them more than ever this year and I realized I very seldom use them. I've also noticed a lot of Pro's using them on different shows. So what kind do you use and when? Type? Clacker? Color of skirt? Color of blade? Three blade vs four? Speed? Trailer hook? Trailer? Favorite Brand? Water & weather conditions

Educate me and a few others that may want to know.

I've used a lot of different brands and I'm really attached to the Damiki line of Buzz Baits. They have a ball clacker that has a very unique clack and I have had great success with them. The other thing I've found is I hardily ever miss a strike on these baits or have them throw the hook, you don't need a trailer hook, the fish stay pinned really well. One thing about them though is that they will get out of tune with the slightest change from their original shape, so pay attention to the way it is bent and shaped so you can adjust it back to the way it was.

Pepper Commando Buzzbait

When the fish are pressured or the water's clear, I go "commando"! This buzzbait has no clacker (which is great for calm, clear water), but still puts out a nice squeak that drives fish crazy. This bait also unique in the fact that you can put whatever hook you want on the back. In heavy cover, I like to use a wide gap hook. But if the cover is sparse or if I'm fishing open water, I put on a treble hook. This bait has a quality wire and it's easy to bend back into shape. This buzzbait is well worth the money if you ask me!

Revenge Buzzbait W/Clacker

For low light conditions or muddy water, I throw this buzzbait. The squeaky blade coupled with the clacker really makes a loud, unique noise that's great for getting the fish's attention! I really like the way this bait planes fast too; it comes up to the surface immediately! All Revenge baits are made in the USA.

Cavitron for calm water, clear days. boogerman for a little more chop or dirtier water. Ive fished a lot of different brands and I throw a buzzbait every morning I go out and I have found these 2 to be the most consistent and catch more and better fish. Cavitron's can be fished slow and have a great squeak right out of the package. The boogerman's are loud as hell and [censored] the fish right off! I also like to use a swimbait trailer on them sometimes both with and without the skirt. Never used a trailer hook and never really have problems losing fish either. Usally they eat em pretty good.

All you need is the original 1/2 oz Lunker Lure, white or chartreuse

War eagle makes a good one. I often remove the skirt and replace it with a fluke to get more bites, slims the profile down a little bit if the fish aren't cooperating

+1 on the Boogerman...all different sizes for different bodies of water and the Blade can be made to hit the head making a loud clacking noise or high pitch squel.

I get more bites on the Cavitron than any other I've tried. There's something about the squeal that it has. They hammer it violently

I like the Lunker Lure. Strike king used to make a lexan blade that was popular in South Texas 20-30 years back.

Falcon and Lake Corpus Christi fish used to love Buzz Baits. I now fish Rayburn and Toledo and just don't seem to do as good with Buzz Baits. I seldom throw one anymore. I would have to say its one of my favorite lures to fish.

I don't have one tied on in the boat, but I think will next time out.

Thanks, Billy

If you can get your hands on one of the old Norman Triple Wing, you have something in my opinion. I agree that the SKs catch fish, but the old Normans are priceless. Fortunate to have a few put back in stock. Just easier to keep the triple wings on top it seems like to reel them a little slower.

I've been doing well with the Papas Baits regular buzz bait and the Papas Buzz.
I like to fish them on wind blown banks.
