This fish weighed #2.55,caught on 4/16 on Fork. Ill be the first to admit I am not a crappie fisherman, heck the wind was blowing so hard we couldn't bass fish so we just decided to try and get out of the wind with some minnows. I had read on here that folks were catching crappie shallow on bobbers. I grew up doing that 50 years a go with my grandpa, so we looked for a place out of the wind,....found some bushes in 4 feet of water and caught about 30 beauties,..all in same spot. I had seen how to rig a slip bobber watching Brushpiles on WFN, rigged up
a couple bass rods and away we went. The bite was steady foe about 3 hours. We never moved the boat.
Thanks to all the guys on here that pass on all their crappie fishing tips. They were all released to fight another day..

Im taking a Crappie trip next month to learn more and more.
It's a lot more different than going out in Grandpa's old john boat
and tying up to a cypress tree...but I'm excited. fish

Congrats on the fish, but more importantly you release it to finish spawning. That's the future of fishing. Ditto's to you,
. cheers

Kudos on a great report and trip. that sounds like it was a fun day ! The total release is a class act.

Even after the spawn I cull at a much longer than legal length so that I am only keeping fish that have had a few good spawns behind them.
