So long story some what short, all spur of the moment while running around town for the honey do list. I Ordered a 12' 7:3 Tenkara rod off of ebay. When It arrived I was extreamly happy with it once I got it out of the package. Anticipating its arrival I made a level line out of 4lb Florocarbon line that I had. Tied on the line and a little adams dry on and headed to pond down the street. Needless to say my first Tenkara experience was not that good. While I was in Honduras and Colorado, Ft Hood reworked the bank of the pond and installed rocks around the bank. It lasted about a minute. Took a spill on the rocks. A couple of nice gashes in my leg below the knee. and broke the rod in the process. After I cleaned myself off I looked at the rod and called it a night. The rod had a clean break in the third section from the tip. I figured that I just lost the $55 dollars I spent. Well I tore it apart and decided if I could rig something up. Ended up discarding the 3" section that broke off wrapped a piece masking tape around the but of the third section and installed it. Unless you measure the sections you cant even tell that it was broke. I decided to forgo the local pond the next day and went to Sulfur Creek in Lampasas TX. First fish on the Tenkara rod. followed by a good 30 more all about the same size. Not really liking the level fluorocarbon line, I ordered a Tenkara USA furled leaded that is 11' long and installed a good 4' of tippet to it. Worked out great on the next trip. I went to Nolan Creek in downtown Killeen. Not many fish like there used to be but managed a few and figured out how much of a difference the two lines made. Yesterday I headed back to Sulfur Creel again. I was greeted with another 30 plus fish day here are a few more pictures. Today I decided to head to Nolan Creek in Belton, TX. Gaining mor confidence with the new toy decided to throw on a Briminator and a fly that I received in one of the fly swaps I participated in. Not sure if it was on here, warmfly, or tff. Does anyone know the name of this fly or what materials were used? All fish to hand was on that fly. I can honestly say it was a good 15 plus fish day. Gills are getting bigger. A school of these moved up into the hole I was fishing. Looked like they ranged from 10-24". I hooked into a couple of the bigger ones and played them for a couple minutes each, but with the rod so flexable and not able to strip set they spit the fly out. I call it a river sucker, but not sure that is the proper name. the smaller 12-14" ones sure were a lot of fun. So what is it?

Looks like a wooly bugger with a tungsten bead, Maribou tail, black pearl chenille for the body and a grizzly saddle hackle

I did this as a kid in Arkansas except it was out of necessity rather than a style. Find a good sapling, tie line to end of it use a small hook and whatever kind of insect I could find..had a blast with that setup
