I'll be in Dallas visiting the fam next weekend, and would like to get some wetwading/tenkara in. Are there any good wadeable rivers or creeks within an hour or so drive of the city? I'll be on the northeast side of Dallas, if that helps.

Not trying to rain on your parade but with all of this rain coming this week, all the creeks and rivers will most likely be flooded.

My rule with Texas weather is wait until I see it before I let it ruin my plans. Too many times I've called off a potential trip because it was going to rain only to be stuck at home on a sunny, perfect day cursing the name "weatherman."

A little further out but Beaver's Bend has outstanding tenkara water.

A little further out but Beaver's Bend has outstanding tenkara water. It's on my list of places to visit when it's too damn hot this summer, but 3+ hours away from my in-laws' place might be a tall order for a single day trip. Or is it?

White Rock Creek is just down the street, along a hiking/jogging trail. Assuming it's not flooded out, would it be fishable?

I can understand that but this is about as for sure as it gets. Heavy rain is moving in as I type.

The bank fishing section has some topics on creeks and other places to fish in Dallas. I've seen some mentions of White Rock in that section. I live in the Tarrant county section of DFW so I don't have any first hand info for you.
