Man what an evening!

Me and a buddy from work decided to run out to Oologah Lake after work yesterday and hit the creeks. We weren't expecting a whole lot, just wanted to enjoy the weather and see if any crappie had moved up. The first creek we stopped at was complete bust. After an hour of no bites that felt like anything other than perch and we got chased off by swarms of wasps.

So we decided to try another creek before we gave up. And boy did we make the right move. When we pulled up there were two guys with jig poles leaving and they had 0 fish. That wasn't what we wanted to see but we have it a try anyways. We found a 20 yard stretch of bank that loaded up! I had less than 2' of line out on my jig pole and was hitting bottom in most places. They were right on the bank and hungry! We were catching them one right after the other. We got there right around as it was getting dark we had 14 nice ones each on our stringers. We decided once we hit 15 each to call it a night. I got my 15th and tried to wait on my buddy to get his but after he didn't have it in 5 minutes I couldn't just stand by any longer. I thought I'd just fish a weird Lille area and in about 10 seconds I got thumped. It was a pretty dang good one too. So I had to step in and catch his #15 for him lol.

We only three back three and they were probably about 9 inchers. The rest were all pretty nice ones with a few slabs mixed in.

Man I love this time of year and yankin em in on the jig pole! There's no better way to catch them than that right there. Not bad for a couple hours after work!

That was actually my first trip to Oologah. Not sure why I waited this long since it's so close. I've heard that's a good area. I think I got a little spoiled!
