Was wondering if anyone know of any good fishing spots for Lake Bardwell. Was hoping to catch a hybrid or two. I was looking on Google map and saw that the stars on the map are loading ramps that I could use. I have a small inflatable boat with a trolling motor so I can't go too far. Any help or anything would be much appreciated.

I launch at Love Park. Free ramp and have no problems there. It is the star farthest south on the east side. I've only gotten into the hybrids once. It is on that east side
south of that ramp. Go out of that cove and around that point, and work down that side toward the dam. I found them by accident going to a brush pile I had marked. It showed on my graph like noodles, so I stopped and cast my 1/4 crappie jig at them.

Hope this helps.

Wow!! Nice catch!! I'd much rather catch all that than a couple of hybrids. thanks again for the help! I'll be on the look out for sandies and crappies too.

Understand that hybrid striped bass must be 18 inches long or longer. The hybrids in the posted pictures appear to be too short. A 17 and 1/2" long hybrid is not big enough and must be returned to the water. If a game warder should see the pictures, someone might be in trouble big time. Do not kill hybrids that are too short. We need the opportunity to catch big legal hybrids in the future.

I appreciate all the concern, but the only hybrid kept was the 21" fish. The others were released. The fish in the picture only had one tooth patch on the tongue. All sandies caught at Bardwell need to be checked to be sure.

The last time I was in the Corp office, they told me the road behind the dam was still closed. But that's been over 2 months ago.

Hey Onlycatchkeepers +1 on all Rods454 advice . I have also had luck fishing back toward Highway 34 bridge coming out of Love Park cove. The long peninsula directly across the lake also holds plenty of sandies this time of the year and there is easy access at the beach or ramp in Highview Park. Hey Rods was that you I passed coming out of Love Park Friday afternoon in a Fishmaster Center Console?

I didn't make it out there this week. Went to Tawakoni Saturday, and killed them. Two of us boated about 200 in 4 hrs. All released to fight again.

We were on the main lake. On the humps. 20-23' of water. Fish stacked up like cord wood! Finally got tired and bored and we left them biting.

Can you still fish behind the dam on Bardwell? If so how do you get back there?

Last time I tried to go back there the road was closed for repairs. That was 2 months ago. Need to call the Corp office for Bardwell. They can tell you.
