My dad is putting together a boat, and is needing some help deciding on a trolling motor and electronics.
For a trolling motor he is considering a Motorguide XI5. I haven't heard much of these, but what I have read on them they look pretty good.
Electronics is where we are having some issues. I know that Hummingbird and Lowrance are like Chevy and Ford, just a personal preference. However, he is looking at Raymarine and Garmin. I know the bigger the better, and side imaging is a must nowadays.
What are yalls suggestions and input?

Thanks,
Olen

It would help to state the size of boat you are going to rig. it's hard to recommend a trolling motor size of boat matters....I personally have an I-pilot... I like remote control and power drift a lot...as for graphs I have a gen 2 Lowrance HDS 8 ... Love it side scan & down scan are just plain sweet..... I believe you stated Chevy or Ford.... I definitely wouldn't get a "Volkswagen" brand graph no-way but that's my opinion.. cheers

If it ain't broke don't fix it...but go ahead and work on it anyway.....

Lowrance plugs are too bulky and their customer service is very stinky from what I've heard. It might just be that Lowrance owners get grouchy though! roflmao roflmao roflmao flush_2

I would suggest a Terrova or Ulterra 112 lb i pilot and either a HBird Onix or Helix. I really like my Onix and the simplicity of the menus.
