I had to go down to Port Isabel and SPI for business this week (I know, poor me!) Finished up yesterday afternoon around 3pm and fished until I left SPI around noon today.

Not only did I get skunked, I got skunked with prejudice! Not even a nibble. I did manage to lose a shoe while wade fishing near an oyster bed, so I'll have some cool scars on my left foot and left hand to remember the trip by.

Anyway, to the point of this post: Are there any decent wade fishing spots in the lower Laguna Madre that can be reached without a boat? I'd like to do a guided trip one day, but it wasn't in the budget this time around. I'm not slated to go back to the area until September and would really like to catch a few red fish and speckled trout the next time I'm there.

There's a lot of places to drive in and wade. Behind the SPI convention center is easy to get to, or get a hooksetter wade/paddle map and it'll show put in places also.

Thanks Pat! I should have asked this question before I left for the trip. I'll pick up the Hooksetter map before I go back in September.

South Bay would be where I pointed myself but be aware of what you leave in your vehicle.
