The same way they keep them alive driving from Grand Lake back to Tulsa or Guntersville back to Birmingham. They've done this before.

Fish keep in a live well for hours easily while fishing. Live well on recirculate. What's another 30-45 minutes? I've hauled bass down the highway for two hours with my live well full and on auto recirculate. Works great. If it's hot, out a little ice in it to keep water temps around 60-70.

Its awesome its back in Texas. I'm interested to see what happens when we get temperatures in the 70's or 80's on the weekend and you mix the running floatillas with the oblivious pleasure boaters. Hope there aren't any serious accidents.

It's not the folks in Houston who will attend this thing and bust records, though there will be a lot. It's the draw that will come from SETX in general. Draw a circle with Lufkin, Beaumont (Golden Triangle), Conroe-Huntsville, College Station, and west to Katy. Those are the people that will fill up Minute Maid Park at final weigh in and fill the George R Brown during the expo. Go ahead and laugh, but when you hold an event like this in the 4th largest city in the country, people will come.

My biggest concern is not getting the fish to Minute Maid, its the number of boats that will be on the water following these fisherman around and the occasional snot nosed kid on a "jet flea" running across KVD's 50 yard crankbait cast. Its gonna be interesting for sure.

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

This is Texas, could be 70 degrees and sunny, could be raining or could be snowing.

Thanks,

I believe the HOV lane is either done, or close to being done all the way to Conroe. They will shut that down to competitors only and they will be downtown in a flash. This is going to be great!!!

People come from all over the US and across the globe to the attend the Classic. Houston is a great hub and the facilities are outstanding. No doubt this event will challenge the attendance record. And the pro's are used to the boats following them around. That won't be any different because it's Conroe. The sky isn't falling.

Mark is right on point here, The on and off site tournament facilities for the 17' Classic will be hard to beat, visitors will have close access to amenities that aren't normally found in more remote Classic locations and the visiting public along with deep pockets in the industry are going to love it, I have no doubt that attendance will show this. A police escorted straight shot run up the contra-flow lane to the weigh in is a 30-40 minute ride at most regardless of the traffic.

Reading the reply's of some of the nay sayers here about the venue sounds mostly like discontent that a site closer to their home lake was not chosen, and thus the negativity. To this I would say you need to petition your local visitors bureau to work to put a plan together and get the pieces put in place to attract such an event. There are very good reasons this site was chosen, exposure..exposure..exposure.

This is the key right here, attendance will be huge. I might try to get on the water Friday but no way I would be on the lake Sat-Sun.

Someone was asking about needing tickets for the expo. you do not, it's free. However, if your a member of BASS you can get your credentials witch allows you
entry to the expo and weigh ins earlier than the general public. A membership allows you and one guest each day. If your a lifetime member you are allowed four guests. Bring lots of cash, they had some really good deals at the Tulsa classic.

I'm certain they have the logistics of getting the anglers downtown worked out. The new hov lane on IH45 is nearly complete and as another poster mentioned, all they will need is a police escort to keep the travel time to a minimum. I'm really looking forward to the event and it doesn't hurt that the lake is less than 15 miinutes from my house.

I can picture what a sight it will be if 100 boats try to follow kvd up to the north end of the lake. I bet there will be a few lower units taken out roflmao

It's $300k + sponsor endorsements. It is a significant amount of money to be won for an angler when the entry fee is free to qualifying folks. Also, dead last place pays pretty good.

i hear ya, but we all know it's not free to qualify for the Classic - if you made it that far you spent some bucks along the way that were shaved to pay that entry fee - hopefully you had some sponsor money to help offset that tidy bill - but you payed to fish the Classic !...use this for an example, since 2004 the winner of the Duck Commander 500 at Texas Motor Speedway 1st place has been over $500K+ endorsement money, last year Earnhardt Jr. got 1.5mil + endorsement money for winning Daytona 500...neither of which are touted as "World Championships"...and at the Valero Texas Golf Open this year the total purse to be split was $6,200,000 with $1,116,000.00 going to first place plus endorsement money and this was just an open !... i'm just say'n since bass fishing is a multi-billion dollar industry don't ya think the World Championship should pay more than $300K for first ? heck after Uncle Sam gets his cut it's even less, plus endorsement money is not guaranteed like the check they hand ya on stage...I understand for most of the guy's its not about the money...just to say you won the Classic is priceless ! ...i'm just say'n 1st needs a boost in the check since this is the World Championship...
