I know you probably prefer your own spices but have you ever tried the Fiesta pinto bean seasoning. I have 2 lbs. cooking in the crock pot with smoked pork neckbones. Sure is smelling good!
Review later.

Fiesta brand? Don't know if I've ever heard of them before... grin

LOVE the stuff. Here's what I consider the "MUST HAVE" in the pantry from them. The spanish rice seasoning is the secret to good fideo.

food Wow!,without a doubt the best beans I've ever cooked. If I can find smoked pork neckbones I'll never use salt pork again and will stock up on the Fiesta seasoning. Had pintos, cornbread and brats on the grill. grill

Biggest trick is fry your rice with butter before cooking. Same as you do with fideo or rice pilaf. You want it nicely toasted golden brown or even a shade darker before you add anything else. Add your spices, mixed vegetables, a can of tomato sauce, and chicken bouillon. Just have to watch your salt levels and don't burn the butter.

Never used the bean seasoning, but have used the onion and garlic powder for years.
