The Lews Speed Sticks are very good rods. I have two and have had no problems with them. For just a little more you can get the phenix rod. If I remember right, fun n Sun has them starting around $110.00 and go up from there.

My only hold up on the Phenix rod is before I spend the money I want to hold one, feel the action etc...and there aren't any dealers listed on the website any around Toledo Bend.

I prefer the St. Croix Legend Tournament Series Carolina Rig rod. It is light and I can cast a 1/2 or 3/4 ounce weight a long way. What I really like is the sensitivity and being able to detect a light bite a long distance from my boat. A long sweeping hook set and she is all mine.

H20 Express, Duckett, or the new white Lews

Spend $100 at Academy on anyone of the above in 7' to 7'3" MH and be done with it. If it breaks just walk back in with the receipt and get you another one, no matter how it broke.

I actually use a custom 7'9" Real Time Rods Bushido made in Yantis Texas by Lake Fork for my C-rig. The Phenix and Lews rods I use for Texas-rig and weightless fluke. You want a long rod for a c-rig to take the slack line up fast on the hook set. You want to sweep the rod to the side. The hook up ratio is way better with a longer rod. I loose very few fish with the longer rod. Spend a little more money and get the right rod. Good luck to you.

Falcon Lowrider in the Lizard Dragger model is a fantastic C-rig rod. The same model in the Falcon Cara line is equally great but the Lowrider is about $100 less.

I had the fine folks at Waterloo Rods build me a 8' on a super light sensitive blank in heavy action with titanium recoil eyes, full premium cork handle and they will wrap it any colors you want and also name it if you want for right around the 200.00 mark.... Its a super fine rod...

Call Ron @ Reel Time Rods at Lake Fork and get him to build you a jig rod. Best jig rod I have ever used and it doubles as a C-Rig rod better than anything else I've tried. And with the unbeatable Lifetime Warranty you will be good to go on 2 fronts.

I use a Lews American Hero for c-rigs. Seems to work fine.

A little out of your price range, but the Carolina Rig Special 804C rod from Dobyn's is AWESOME for this technique. Hope this helps.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

For the budget minded fisherman - I ordered a 765 Powell Diesel a couple years ago for 69 dollars on Tackle Warehouse - it has been an incredible carolina rig rod for me - I throw a 5 foot leader and a 1 oz weight. You cannot beat the price for the quality you get in the rod. Alot of great rod suggestions on here though - Many great ones to choose from.
