Thinking about heading out to Athens this weekend before rains. Any reports? Everything is appreciated! so is everyone else within a 150 mile radius of the lake. From what I was reading it had started to get better in the last week or 2. Haven't heard much about Athens in the last few days. Trust me, when it's good, you will hear about on this forum.

Thinking about heading out to Athens this weekend before rains. Any reports? Everything is appreciated! Slow and crowded. Fished last Thursday in near perfect "fisherman" conditions. We caught 4 fish in 4 hours. Must have been 30 boats on the lake on a Thursday. The vegetation in the lake is great. Eel grass is in the right places mixed with just a little coontail. Water surface temps were 71 to 73 degrees. The few fish we did catch were in 6 to 10 foot of water and caught on Carolina rigged baby brush hogs or T rigged biffle bugs. We left and fished a private lake nearby and caught 23 in 3 hours.
