They usually start broad casting about the KYKX around January... That's the #2 reason why I only listen to talk radio.

Their backup to Sandy Beach was Johnson's Creek. First place is usually $105,000 in cash and prices.

This is the tournament that the Louisiana Bass cheaters I talk about in my book stole the 105,000 dollars from. Some are in prison, one was murdered before testifying against them. That all happened back in the early 80's. Several articles on Inside the cheating of bass tournaments. I disqualified one of them I was a tournament director of on Toledo Bend April 1980. The next month (May) at The Battle of the Lakes tournament in Longview the guy I disqualified won that one with an 11 lb bass they purchased in Florida. The guy blind sided me at the weigh-in after 3 hours of polygraph tests. Hit me from behind, I had a maxillary facial blowout. The put a piece of teflon under my eye socket to replace the shattered cartilage. They caught one of them later at a Wright Patman tournament and he spilled the beans on all of them. The guy that hit me went to prison and later was killed in prison. They stole close to a million dollars. The guy that won the KYKX tournament after being caught admitted to never having wet a hook! You can read all about it in my new book "The Journey of an Old Big Bass Fisherman".
Saddest thing was a young man from east Texas caught a 7 1/2 lb. bass that day on Lake Palestine and placed second. First prize was a choice of $60,000 or a pre-fab home from the sponsor. Talk about Highway robbery!

Sandy Beach is flooded. Outlook ramp still closed. Still advertising on the radio, so they must have a back up site.

About $105,000 worth of relevance to the young man that came in second.

Never again. I fished in the one the cheating occured. Offshore conditions, boats sinking. I think that was 1982 and it was earlier in the spring. Thanks for dragging that memory out.

I know the guy that got second in that tournament the guy cheated in. Needless to say he's still pretty upset.
