I posted this in the kayak forum as well, but thought I might get more responses here.

My brother's birthday is coming up and he wants to spend the weekend kayak fishing. The wives will be with us, so we want to keep it pretty easy.

Two thoughts.

1) Find a nice cabin with waterfront access that we can stay in so if my brother and I decide to go fishing without the wives we can do so easily.

2) Maybe an easy river float. Thinking of a riverfront property that we could drop in upstream and float down to camp.

Any suggestions on where to go? Preferably within about 4 hours of McKinney.

Thanks

Caddo Lake/ Big Cypress Bayou. A must do trip if you've never been. There's something there for just about anyone, and Jefferson isn't far away for the women to do their shopping thing.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Do you have a travel trailer? If so, your options open up more. Rock Creek Camp at PK, Wise County Park at Bridgeport, Joe Pool, Bob Sandlin, Huntsville.....

When you have a little more time the Llano and South Llano rivers are absolute hill country gems. Great canoeing or kayaking and some great bass fishing. Stay along the Llano in Castell or the S.Llano outside Junction(S. Llano River State park) for some great day trips.
