I just bought a camper and want to take it on a long weekend trip to somewhere I have never been before. Everyone tells me Broken Bow is a great place to go. My question is how is the fishing there and where do I need to park the camper? I'm really interested in catching smallmouth.

Camp at Beavers Bend State Park just below the dam. Trout fishing is great there, and you can trailer to the lake and go after some smallies.

Never camped on the lake but Beaver's Bend is a nice park. They stock trout every couple of weeks, you can find the schedule online. Just google mountain fork trout stocking. If you go on a stocking weekend get their early. Sites are first come first served and the go quick.

Better read some recent updates about beavers bend. The floods wrecked it and if memory serves me right they haven't been stocking it with trout. Shame because it is a great trout fishery. Lake should be fine.

Lake is a great place to go fish and very beautiful scenery.
We normally catch largemouth, smallmouth and an occasional walleye.

According to the LMFR foundation the stockings resumed in mid-march. All boards I'm reading report great fishing right now.

Trout fishing is tough right now. Saturday is a down right spectacle with rude people. If you get there at daylight you got about an hour to enjoy yourself before people barge in like it's a donut shop offering free donuts.

There are campgrounds at the lake too. Run by the same office. You set up camp and the Host comes around to collect. Ramps right there (3 to use based on wind) in the park near campsites.

It's first come first serve so you never know if you got a site or not. Been there done that....if that happens check Secluded Acres RV Park on Hwy 259 in Hochatown. It's nice and close to lake too.

Fishing on lake should be good now, reports show fish up shallow. I saw a ton of bass boats up there this weekend. BUT it's a big lake, lots of room to spread out, unlike the river.

12" stockers or Smallmouth, Walleye, LMB...you take your pick! I know what I would pick right now, and I'm a trout bum the last 3 years. Give me the Broken Bow Grand Slam!!

BTW you should check out the trout river, some pretty views and good hiking around there. Train and Horse Rides for the kiddos.

Nice golf course on the lake too! Plenty to do, and plenty to eat up there. Hochatime is where it's AT!!

Went there last week of March. Fished with Bryce Archie. Had a great time an caught several smallies, lmb, spots and walleye. Use a Ned rig with ZMan sprayed grass TRD. Spin cast rig with 8lb floro. Killer bait on that lake.

Beautiful lake.

Stephens Gap probably has the nicest RV park. I fished there last month (also with Bryce) and we caught smallies on SPRO Rock Crawler. Hoping to go back in a couple of weeks for some of those monster crappie. You'll have a great time there.
