Myself and Mike (USMC-GY) had a pretty good day fishing the Guadalupe River! We caught a bunch of Crappie,Bluegill, and Rios at two different spots. Crappie were found in 7 to 8 feet of water holding by brush piles. Jigs (Chartreuse/pink) was the bait used for the Crappie. We also picked up some nice Bluegill in 2 to 4 feet of water hanging out with the Rios. Caught a bunch of Rios also. Worms were used on the Gills and Rios. Bottom techniques was the tactic used to catch the fish. HIGHLIGHT of the trip was a about a 10 pound bass trying to take a 13 inch Crappie from Mike. Bass actually got a hold of the fish and was pulling drag for about twenty seconds before letting the fish go. The Crappie was alive and well and was released. All fish were released to fight again. After a day of GREAT fishing we stopped at the Jack In the Box for a quick lunch. A super good day on the Guadalupe River. It just don't get any better. fish

Best three river fish on the Guadalupe. I would add the Redear, which have been in hiding mode for a long time. Nice ones guys. Good job and keep it going. Going to be a super year. woot

Side Note: I have checked some Rio spots and so far nothing on nest. As for the sunnies been getting nice numbers in shallow water (4 to 6 feet). As for the Crappie far east side has been GREAT all year. Still picking them up in shallow water (4 to 8 feet). River is in great shape with a lot of overhanging tree limbs.

Thanks Curtis and HC for the replies. cheers HC: For a quick snack the Jack is hard to beat! coolio Curtis: All of this rain and the strong currents are not helping the Rio/sunfish bite on the Guadalupe. hammer The Crappie on my end have been fair. breakdance Sunfish/Rio bite has slowed down a lot. bang Creek and pond fishing has been very good. dance2 Hopefully things will settle down. clap Dunlap,Mcqueeney, and Placid are Muddy. Will take a couple of days for those lakes to clear up. nuts

Agree totally Chuck with your report. All the river lakes are a muddy mess right now. Looks like some dry weather will be setting in the rest of the week. Going to try to hit it mid week. Have not done much creek fishing yet. Plan on doing some creek fishing this weekend.
