My dad built a few of those fish attractors made of pvc pipe and sunk the under and around our dock. Anyone know when we might see/catch some fish off of them? Also, are they more likely to attract one type of fish over another?
Thanks

Look at it as a food chain thing. Those fish attractors grow algae. The plankton feeds on the algae. The bait fish feed on the plankton. Then you know what happens from there. The timeline is different with each brush pile/fish attractor. If its organic (a real brush pile) the algae will grow more quickly and you will likely see fish holding on them sooner. But once the plastic ones get some algae going their just as good. but to answer your question......how ever long it takes.

I have caught crappie off of PVC 2 hours after it hit the water. If the location holds fish, but doesn't have much cover it will work very fast.

Rough up the PVC with some 80 grit sandpaper & the algae process happens a lot quicker.
Less gritchin', more fishin'
