I've always heard it'd bad on your ducer to leave it running when not in the water. So is there a standby option on Garmin that I'm not seeing? Or do I have to power down every time I pull the trolling motor?

They do have standby. If you just tap on the power button, it has an option to stop the transducer. At least that's how you do it on my 73sv.
