I have busted a couple over the years. Mine have all been operator error. I own about 20 or 25 Powells. I just fill out the warranty claim form and send the rod in to Powell along with the replacement cash and shipping.
From the Website:
If you are returning a spinning, casting, or fly rod for warranty, please cut the 8 inch section of the rod which contains the Powell logo on the front and the rod description on the back. Send that portion in along with your warranty form filled out and payment.
If you are claiming a defect, please make sure you send us your entire rod for
examination, or your warranty will be voided.
