Fished Dunlap for the 1st time this spring on 3/31.Started out fishing for crappie...caught "0". Have yet to catch one of those dang fish, but I know they are there somewhere ? Fished from 8:30 til 2:00...water temp 69 degrees and relatively clear. Ended up with 30-40 sunfish of various types, but most were size challenged. Had 5 that would have been keep size, but released all, as this was more an exploratory trip than fill the freezer trip. Using nightcrawlers on the bottom...fishing mostly upper end of lake...did catch two bass going 2.5 and 3 lbs. Did notice way more boats on the lake than was expecting, since spring break is over...

Thanks Vogey for the report. Give it a couple more weeks and the Gills will really be on fire. Right now the Crappie are close to spawning out. Still catching some in the shallow water 4 to 6 feet deep off of flats. Once the spawn is over you will find them hanging around docks in 14 to 18 feet of water or by ledges, brush piles, and drop offs in that same water depth. Early morning and late night bites are the best times for the Crappie. You will also catch some nice sunnies in that depth and area. Side Note: The reason for all the boats is there is a bass tournament going on each Thursday on Dunlap.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. For me Crappie are an elusive quarry on that lake. That's why I fish McQueeny or Placid instead. Dunlap is a great sunnie lake.

Better get your Dunlap fishing in now. Once Memorial Day gets here that lake belongs to the recreational boaters. Wake Boats and Jet Fleas!

Great getting updates on Dunlap. I fished Mcqueeney the past weekend and the sunfish bite is picking up. Caught about a dozen nice size sunnies. Fish are in 5 to 8 feet of water holding by drop offs. Did not fish the main channels.
