I'm thinking about ordering a rod building starter kit from Mudhole. I'd like to build a 7'6" Heavy rod for flipping and pitching along with trying out frogs, large cranks, and large swim baits. I already have a couple of med-heavy rods around 7'.

Mudhole has packaged kit with a 7'9" X-Heavy rod. I think this would be good for pitching and flipping but is it going to be to heavy/long for frogs or the other lures I'd like to use it for?

I use an 8' xh that's slow action for my frog rod.

It will be ok.

You will be fine, I use a Power Tackle PG104.5 for my frogs

I think that is to much rod for frogs and swimbait but that is based on my preferences. My frog and swimbait rods are heavy with moderate fast tips and are 6'10" and 7'. I like to use shortest rod possible and still feel confident it will do the job. My flipping stick is only 7'3"xh.
