Canyon Lake provides a variety of bass fishing options. There are a lot of flooded bushes, trees to flip, rock walls/canyons, marinas, and brush piles put out by Texas parks and wildlife. The bottom end of the lakes has some nice smallmouth (near the dam and the main lake points near there) and the upper end usually has more largemouth, though I have caught both in several different parts of the lake. My last trip to the lake produced lots of small bass with a few keeper sized mixed in. I like to fish shallow so I usually focus on the large coves that are mid lake and up towards the the river.

My experience with the trout below the dam is that they are caught very quickly from when they are stocked and with the last stocking having been reported as 3/3/16 there may not be many left if any at all. If you do want to try your luck with them I have had good success with Berkley 3' trout worms , with pink being my favorite color.
