What brand waders would you recommend for wading laguna Madre. I have used simms waders they are nice but expensive. I think I am going to get me a pair for next fall but was wondering if any of you guys have experience with other brands.

i've been using the Hodgeman's from Academy. if you paint the seams with wet suit glue, they last as long as any others i've had.

Buy once and be happy for a long time. Save up and get the Simms.

I love my simms as well. Is there anything wrong with your simms. I think most of their's have a lifetime warranty. You might check in with them before you buy your pair. For the laguna I'd get a breathable version.

Thanks for the replies. I don't own any fishing waders I had borrowed some from a friend a couple of times and I liked them but they were expensive. I have a pair for waders I use for ducks, they work ok but they are for colder weather I think and they seem heavy compared to the Simms.

Patagonia is having a smoking deal on their Rio Gallegos waders right now...normally $599 on sale for $299.

10-4 on the Simms, been there done that, but worth the investment. My daughter wades ocasionally with me and I bought her some of the Gulf Coast waders, they seem to be holding up well. Another affordable option, I've also had these, are the Caddis. Mine leaked, I called them and they sent me a new pair, I sold those to a buddy, he used them several time and they leaked. He called and they sent him a new pair. I have been using my Simms G3s for about 3 years now, no more leaks. Good luck.

check out the Cabelas brand. I think they are quite good for the money. Look in the $125 - $150 range. I can't recall the name but the breathables (required for the coast) in that price range are really good. I had a pair I fished Seadrfit and POC in for years and they finally started leaking at the boot seam after about ten years. Get a pair of neoprene wade booties and you are good to go.

If I didn't buy Simms or Patagonia I'd probably buy Cabelas. I've never used their waders before but I have lots of their clothing and other gear which is top notch.

A pair of Magellan fishing pants is ~ $25.00.

That's all you'll need for the next 7 months.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
