Was watching one of the college shows as I heard there was a kid from Sachse in the 2015 event. Anyway... Son and I noticed one of the dudes looked a little mature for college fishing. Sure enough I googled him and he was like 34 and been fishing BASS events since like 2006. Is there not some age limit on these things/for College?

Theres not an age limit that i know of but you couldn't have fished pro events with over $2500 entry. There was a guy that was in his late 30's maybe early 40's from Tennessee that fished for a year while he was getting a masters in engineering. You have 4 years of eligibility. For the most part we are all 18-25 years old.

The all-time best college fishing is when Zona says, "That Tommy Sanders is the worst case of stink eye I have ever seen" about Jonas Ertle! May be Zona's best one-liner ever LOL!!!

I don't think there is an age limit in any of the NCAA sports. Remember the QB from OSU (I think) a few years ago was about 28 yrs. old, wasn't he? I might be wrong on that, and if so, I apologize. But I know one of the guys from OK will straighten me out on that.

You're right Preacher, that would be Brandon Weeden. He now is with the Texans and played a few games for the Cowboys last season?

College Fishing I don't think is controlled by the NCAA which is why they can get sponsor dollars, etc.

But I laughed... when I read how old he was.

Yes, 4 years of eligibility/no age limit. If you look at the ages of the BYU and University of Utah football rosters, many are older due to 1-2 year Mormon mission trips from 18-20yo. Same with Army/Navy with military service years.

There was at one time an age limit for college B.A.S.S. tournaments and maybe college FLW but it made folks who went straight to military service after high school, and then to college when they returned from deployment, ineligible right from the start due to age. It also made graduate students ineligible because of age. There was a guy in his early 30's that fished in one of my college clubs. He obviously didn't go try to finish his degree just to fish college-level tournaments but he enjoyed it.

NCAA has no influence on collegiate fishing and it would do the sport good to never allow that to happen.

So if I'm 30 and in college and they have a bass club and I bass fish I shouldn't fish with the bass club right? What's the acceptable age limit to fish college tournies? Should I just quit college altogether because I'm 30 and too old?

I guess I need to go back to college and take a couple of night classes so I can get in on this action.

Yeah, because college anglers earn so much money fishing. sigh

I think over 26 then you should leave it to the kids.

If you want to go to college and you have the time and the money, It's your call there..........
