I'm looking at buying a late 90's Bass Cat Pantera II and want to know if any of you have owned/fished out of them and what pros and cons you have with them. Thanks!

I owned a 94 p2 and loved it. Fished great, ran mid 60's. Now I'm in an 09 pantera classic.

The BC P2 w/200hp was one of the better boats in the 1990s

I had a 93 Pantera II with a 200 Merc. EFI. Great boat. Moved up to a 2005 Cougar in 2007. I went bigger since I started fishing big lakes like Rayburn and Toledo Bend. Upgraded to a 2012 Cougar in 2015. Friend has a 96 Pantera II and loves it.

Had a 96 PII with a 200 EFI Mercury that was a very good boat.

Thanks for the input so far. How did they fish with the narrower front deck? Is it good or bad with the trolling motor being positioned so far forward in the deck?

Panteras and Pantera 2s ran up and down Rayburn and Toledo Bend for many years in horrible conditions before trailering was allowed and canceling competition days was popular.

I owned a 99 PII 200 EFI, good boat, a little narrow on front deck. Solid boat, great quality.

It's a little narrow on the front because the gunnels are so thick in those models. It's not the most stable fishing platform, the partner in back changing sides will rock the boat a bit and it bobs around a bunch in waves. You'll get used to the far-forward pedal, many who try it end up liking it better, some never get the hang of it. Probably one of the better rough-water boats in the 19 ft class. My 94 model Pantera II was far more comfortable in the rough stuff than my dad's 03 model Pantera Classic (the 94 PII was much heavier so that played a big part in that). I could get it to about 66 unloaded and about 63-64 with two dudes, gear, full livewells and full fuel. My particular boat was never one of the fast ones, there are several late 90 model PII's that were upper 60's to around 70 boats.
Overall good boat, best attribute was probably its rough water ride and a very good value. I paid 5,000 for my 94 PII in rough shape, refurbished it, upgraded electronics and sold it 4 years later for 8,000. That's not normal, but my point is that you can get a quality boat for the money and it will sell for you if you decide to get a different one.

Thanks for all of the pointers. It's good to see how many people back the customer service and quality of the BCB brand.

Some of the late 90s bass cats had dash issues. If it is not upgraded to the a10 call Richard at bass cat. He knows the wiring like the back of his hand. The updated dash is supper simple with his instructions.
