Has anyone had much success bass fishing lavon? I know it's great for crappie and sandbass but never hear much on the black bass. Thanks.

Only been once a couple years ago when it was low. Fished around the two parks just west of the dam and within just a couple hours had almost 90 inches with my top 5 fish. Was really surprised! I caught three fish 18" long within 20 minutes and probably no more than 10 yards apart. There was a rock pile going down into the water from the bank and I pulled several fish off of it but It's probably 10 feet under water now. I had never heard anything about Lavon bass fishing but my only time was a good one.

Well damn! Guess I'm gonna give it a try them. With all the grass growth on the north end I figured it has to hold some.

When the lake is at normal pool level or a foot or two low, you can find good bass by working the old submerged levees, where they drop into deeper water, South of 380 near Elm Creek Park. I reckon the lake is too high right now.

I used to fish the Thursday night tournament there quite a bit when I had bass boats. There are plenty of good fish in that lake. This time of year 4-5" grubs on rocks and crank baits on rocks for pre/post spawn fish is my favorite pattern.

I went out there yesterday, launched at Collin Park Marina and paddled into the cove by the docks. Lots of submerged brush and trees, caught one nice one on a white spinner bait, had another one but I lost it while I was fumbling with my phone to try to take a pic...

Its has some nice bass for sure. My buddy just caught the catch and release record in February at 24" not sure if they updated the record page yet though. His name is Clifton. I've have caught some nice bass out there as well my best from Lavon went 22" and I snagged it by the tail slabbing for sandies off the south end of the island at Clear Lake park.
