I have a 1986 17 and a half foot champion the motor runs great I hit a stump this weekend fishing and cracked an old repair what would be the best rout for me to go just fix the damage and bandage my boat tell I can save money to get a newer one or do a complete resteration

It depends on what is cracked but I would think fix the damage. You can buy a 1986 boat someone else has fixed up for less than it would cost to restore this boat.

Hard to answer without knowing the damage. If it's the hull, you probably can just have fiberglass work done and fix the problem. If it is the transom, there is a fairly cheap repair by cleaning out the old stuff and pouring in a new one. Other option is to find someone who has a bad engine and selling the hull cheap and swap your motor over to it.
