So my question...does Chaney have the giant salvinia in it or not?

How easy is it to cross the barrier?

Here it is in a nut shell. It is not illegal to fish 10 yards from another fisherman. Most of us don't do it because it's just the right thing to do is give the first guy his space. Now tp&w want us to to wash our boats so we don't infect another uninfected area or lake. So isn't it smart to just stay away??? Why do we need a sign to tell you what is the smart thing to do? I wouldn't be worried about the guy that pays attention to his surroundings. I'd worry about the guy that needs a sign to tell him what he can and can't do.

Is the Salvinia in Chaney creek or not? If not, I don't see any reason to not fish in there. If it is in there and they are still spraying it and trying to contain it, I will stay out.

IMO.. if it's still there, all access IN&OUT should be halted and enforced until the situation is under control.. Residents in that area will have to trailer to and from the lake to other ramps. Pretty simple to me..

Part B. What I'm understanding is the people of lake fork community don't want you messing up their source of income. Ive always wanted to go to lake caddo but I don't anymore since I've heard about salvinia. So think about how many others have decided not to go as well and how much money is lost. Lake fork has an advantage on lake caddo did. Damage control is being done quickly and as a fisherman you should do your part to help. Is the lake not big enough? Does your wife have to leave a sign not to track mud into the house? Wait don't answer that!!!

TPWD reported yesterday that they have done a pretty good job of eradicating the giant salvinia in there but there is a little left.

They are going to try to make an opening for boats to get thru without having to drive over the boom. They are not ready to pull it out yet.

They also said that some boaters were using an unauthorized ramp on private property without the land owners permission and that it has now been closed.

I have a trailer in Chaney and haven't fished in it since the ramps were closed and they started spraying it. no way I want it in the rest of the lake so I haven't even hesitated about going over the barrier. just hope they get it completely eradicated and the barrier can be removed and ramps can re-open. They did spray it again a few weeks ago since there was still a little left hopefully this week or next they will again access the situation and consider it complete.
