I made the trip down to Eufaula yesterday to see if I could catch some on the banks with the jig pole. I thought it may be a tad early but my next 2 weekends are booked so I had to go find out. This is my favorite way to catch em so I wasn't going to miss out.

I stopped at one of my favorite creeks on the north end of the lake first. Fished it for about an hour and only managed 6 small ones with the biggest being about 7 inches. Not what I was hoping for but it gave me hope.

Next I decided to head to the one of the furthest creeks south that I knew of. They usually start moving into those creeks a little earlier than on the north end of the lake. I walked up and down the bank but only managed a few perch and bass. There was some brushed piled up around the bridge that goes over the creek so I thought I would try it out a little deeper. Finally caught a pretty good blackie. It was the biggest one of the day but after not catching anything else down there, I let her go because I didn't think I was going to anymore to go with it.

I had a couple hours to spare and thought I would try out a new creek in the mid lake area I've never fished. I had been in there bass fishing and thought it would be an awesome spawning creek so I listened to my gut and have it a try. I caught two good ones back to back at the first laydown I fished. There were laydowns all over the creek so I just kept in going down the bank pulling one or two out of each one. Ended up with 9 and had a few toads come off as I was swinging em in(ouch). Didn't catch any small ones here, every one I caught went on the stringer. Wish I would have kept that first one to go with them! But overall a good day. Glad I turned it around!
