I need some help selecting a kayak paddle. I suspect that I'm asking a question that has already been asked multiple times before, but I hope you'll indulge me and and answer it again. smile

I've been fishing out of 10 ft SINK style kayak for years, and I just had the opportunity to get a Diablo Amigo. Compared to what I'm used to, this kayak is huge! I pretty much have no clue how to select the right length paddle for this kayak.

It has the elevated seat and it is 37.5 in. wide. I'm assuming that I will need a longer paddle than I'm used to using, but how do you decide the right length of paddle to use?

The kayak did not come from a dealer, but I figure I'll go to one of the local shops for help selecting the best the paddle. However, I'd like to have some idea about where to start before I go shopping.

So, how about it, anyone willing to share some basic paddle selection tips?

Thanks!

250cm is the minimum single length paddle they recommend. There are long high dollar convertible Kayak/SUP paddles also

I rented an Amigo to try out and I used the Bending Branches 240-255cm set at 255cm paddle. They're around $175 so not super cheap but not a $500 paddle.

I talked with someone else who owned an Amigo and he was using a 260cm Bending Branches Slice Angler paddle.

I actually own an AT Fishstix even though I currently don't own a kayak (I'm in the market and want to try out the ATAK) but I have to say the Bending Branches paddles are pretty nice for what they cost.
