Thinking of heading up there, didn't know how it was fishing or if it was worth the trip.

I haven't been up since they tore the main road up leading into lakes...with rain coming that might make it a muddy mess getting in and out...not to hijack your post but does anyone know if they re-paved the road ?

Was up there last weekend... The muddiest water I've fished all year. I think the rains from last week must have been torrential up there is all I could figure. I've never seen it like that. They were up shallow though and on beds. Can't see em though. Caught them flipping bigger plastics in black/blue.

I've fished Crockett 3 times last week. It's definitly not the lake it was 2 years ago, but it still produces good fish. Water is very murky, much like Coffee Mill. That said, it's been fishing good for me. My pattern has been simple. I go to the very back of both arms and fish the open pockets in the very thick grass beds. From a distance, it looks very muddy and too thick to fish. However when you work your way back in, you will begin to find holes and pockets with clear water. You will also see some bedding fish. I've been using a push pole to fish those areas. The grass is too thick to use your trolling moter. I have been flipping 6 & 8 inch watermelon red lizards into the holes and catching solid fish 2-4lbs. No big girls yet for me. I also had success working the areas around and near the thicker grass with weightless watermelon green senko's. I look for the clearest water that has grass and open pockets and pitch the senko into those areas. Work it very slow. I'm catching about 15 good fish in a 5 hour period. When the bite slows, I go into the smaller pockets and pitch to any timber I can find. Talked to a guy on Monday, who was having success with an umbrella rig fishing the deeper and clearer water on the north end of the lake. He had also caught a 10 the week before on a creature bait near the major point on the lake. Good luck!
