Need tips for Bass fishing on lake tawakoni. Fished for the first time yesterday and didn't fare to well. Seems like a Great Lake and maybe I just need to research and fish a lot. But any tips would be appreciated!

If you think you're fishing shallow at 4-8ft, you aren't shallow enough! It is in my opinion a mud hole! Your TM will kick up a cloud when you are shallow enough. Get it back into the submerged willows, pads, etc in the backs of pockets.

I am not a fan, only fished it a few times when I had to.

^^^^ Agree 100%!!! If you are not kicking up mud, then you are not shallow enough.

Everyone says that the bass are only up shallow on Tawokoni but it simply isn't true . I'd heard the "trolling motor kicking up mud" line a hundred times, but I ignored it and went out there and caught fish where they weren't supposed to be. The lake has a ton of shad and there's bass on structure waiting to ambush the schools

You'll catch some sandies and hybrids out there, but the largemouth are there too.

If you catch a bass, reel it in slow. You might catch the catfish of a lifetime by doing it.

Tawakoni is full of bass. It is known for shallow water fishing but the locals have certain docks that produce really well too. I have caught a ton of bass on a C-rig off the mainlake point at the mouth of Cedar cove too.

Go to Cedar or Rabbit Cove and start fishing at the boat ramp. Chartreuse & white spinnerbait and pumpkinseed chart tail lizard will get you bit. Most of the bass are probably on the bank right now so don't be afraid to throw the lizard in behind the shallowest bushes. Also try a Stanley Ribbit frog rigged on a Double-Take hook or 50-65 braid. You can throw it up & over the bushes to get behind them.

If you find any grass at all throw a Lunker Lure buzzbait.

Ole girl will be a pimp [censored] fishery in a couple years if the water level holds....two or three years of epic spawns on 40k acres will be a great thing...

Can someone sit in the mouth of the ponds in thousand trails and block you from entering to fish?

Had a Waterhead try that carp with me on Fork many years ago. Thought he was gonna turn his boat sideways and block off an entire cove! What a Moron.

That lake is my kryptonite. Went yesterday for a few hours and pretty much zipped.

We ended up with 3 for 13 pounds! A few 6-13" fish that didn't go in the livewell. Spinnerbaits and craw worms. Fishing dirt shallow
