Looks like a California/Oregon salmon trolling rig. Ought to work well!
You take the wire spreader, tie your main line on the bend. Tie your lure on to the end straight back. On the short arm you time some light leader, 8-10 lb and tie your weight to that. You only need about a foot of leader to the weight. Lure should go back about 3-5 feet.
You'll no longer need to troll at 3 mph to get that deep diver into the zone. Most people will do fine with a 3 ounce weight and trolling about 1 mph.
By using different weights you can actually put out quite a spread.
If you want a rattle troll a rattle trap.
Also if you want to add a LOT of flash then head over to www.Shortbusflashers.com
and pick up your choice of 5.5" flasher in your color choice. If you go with one of those let me know and I'll tell ya how to rig it. They also create quite the thump in the water while rotating.
I'm headed to the water next week, weather permitting, to give it a try.
