I had a first occur yesterday while fishing Yequa creek for catfish. Fishing directly on bottom with garlic soaked liver I felt a very familiar thump, unlike a catfish hit. Keeper crappie. I was completely surprised. Have never had this happen before. Don't know what it was thinking, but it sure thumped it!

I use a garlic flavored scent on my soft plastics and the crappie seem to really like it.

Had one about 2lbs swallow the jig last week. Had to cut the line & tie on a new jig. Must have fooled him pretty good.

Little man got mad at me a few years ago cause he was wanting to catfish and I wasn't going to quit crappie fishing to go catfishing so he had me bite his jig off and put a treble hook and a split shot on his line and he sat on the floor of the boat and threaded a big ol night crawler on the hook and drop it over the side! I told him don't go too deep cause your gonna snag that treble hook in the pile. I told him I couldn't believe I tried to raise him up into a crappie and he turned into a catfish!!! He told me crappie eat worms too! He was fishing for both he said. About that time his rod bend over and he pulled up a crappie almost 2 pounds. On a night crawler and a treble hook. I still hear about that. roflmao

Anymore I just leave him be!! He proves me wrong more time than not!! fish
