Hey guys.. So.. I wanted to take my son camping over a weekend and do some fishing for cats. I have heard of the state park area and wind pointe area for camping and cats. In your opinion, which park would be best for camping and catching a few fish. Or which area do you recommend? We both never have camped so I will be going with a friend and their son but wanted to pick a spot to do this in. Thanks in advance?

Arm Point Park which is run by Anchor Inn marina. You can set tent pretty close to water and fish. Good luck fishing and happy camping. Since I don't fish tawakoni anymore, I'll let you in on a little secret, this is the best bank fishing spots for many species of fish. With a couple of surf rods and a pair waders, you should catch no less than a cooler full of fish.

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

I just hit the state park and after about 20 hours with lines in the water we managed one 3lb blue. Also, there's only one campsite we could find that had good water access. I don't recommend the state park. Sounds like the guys above have a good suggestion.

You can camp at the city park in west tawakoni as well. Showers and a boat ramp there. Call city hall. Anchor inn is a good place to fish as well

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Thousand Trails is pretty good, lot of shore line and has a fishing dock. Get some worms from Doc's on the way to Thousand Trails and catch some blues. They also have a fish cleaning station

If it's legal ain't no way in hell it's catch and release, it's CATCH & GREASE, except ROUGH (TRASH) Fish

Thousand Trails is $46/night for a camping pad. That is kind of high. We are looking at Anchor Inn area and their $12 site/$7 per person sites.
