I'm looking for a place to go fly fishing this weekend. I will be traveling from Dallas, but am willing to go to the Austin area. I just moved to Dallas, but used to fish on the Guadalupe, Llano, San Gabriel, Colorado and Pedernales when I lived in the Austin area. I don't have a kayak anymore, so I'll be wading. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for a good trip?

Trout or Warmwater? For trout, I'd head up to Beaver's Bend state park near Broken Bow, OK; about 2 1/2 to 3 hrs from Dallas. It'll be crowded on the weekend, but it's still a nice place to fish.

For Warmwater, I'd look at the sand bass threads on this forum for locations and I'd go fishing for white bass while they're still running in the creeks.

If you can find some sort of boat the Dallas club has a fishing event on Lake Athens this weekend, but that's a difficult place to fish while wading.

Good luck!
