Just signed up for the 50 Miler. Talk about setting a goal for yourself. Told the wife I was going to do it and she said go for it! There's a mtn bike race the afternoon before I thought about signing up for, but figured I'd hate to crash and possibly break a bone or something so I put that off till next year. Time to start training! loco_2

Any of y'all going to get in on this?

That'd be correct. Not sure what I've gotten myself into.

Go for it!

At first I thought it was a running race of 50 miles and I thought to myself.... shocked , but then saw it was a bike race!! LOL!

Training, training, training.....in my opinion that is the "drive" to better yourself and make a goal for a set date. My half marathon run gave me the drive and the daily amount I needed to accomplish. Now it's over, I feel lost...don't know how far to run and for what. LOL!

I am signing up for a Sprint Triathlon April 24th. It's only 13 miles on bike and only a 5k run (200 meter swim in a pool). I am still dreaming about that "street bike" I want! wink

I used to be in bike racing pretty seriously and traveled at least one or two times a month to race. I loved it. I did the Hotter'N Hell 100 probably 20 years ago and it was a blast. I actually finished pretty high. I rode the 50 mile race and I got 10th overall and 6th in my age group...or something like that. It is one of the most crowded race you will ever go to. Pace yourself and enjoy it. It was the most memorable race I ever did.

When I lived in Graham from 90-95, I helped during the race as the course came through town. Not sure anymore if it's still the same course.

If you're a runner you need to put the Leadville 100 on your bucket list. Crazy ultra-marathon.

I saw that on Extreme Sports Saturday (one of those Saturday morning tv shows).....It LOOKS AWESOME!!

You get 25 hours to complete the race....if you want the bigger trophy. Yeah, you get a participation trophy after you run 100 miles at 10K'+. smile

I am putting this on my bucket list for the next 5 years. That would be an experience of a lifetime.

I've never tried it but when I lived in CO I went with some friends who tried it. I was at the checkpoints to refresh and refuel them. It has grown in popularity, it was still small when they ran it.
