Got a Shimano Citica 200G7 in 7.1.1 ratio that just won't level wind properly. During a trip to the lake the line ends up higher on the right side of the spool than the left. Its always done this and it causes problems casting. Anybody have any ideas what's causing this?

Check the line feeding between the level wind eye and the spool, I took my citica to have line spooled on it and it would not wind level.... Turned out the line was on the wrong side of the crossbar between the spool and the eye.... Working great now

I would think though if the worm gear or pawl were bad you should notice your line guide sticking to one side of spool and not moving back and forth. Does it not move back and forth properly when you reel?

Thanks, I appreciate the responses...and I checked the line... its in the center hole of the line guide. The line guide moves freely and doesn't stick or bind up. The reel seems to be working perfectly except for this one issue. Towards the end of a day on the lake the line is 1/8 inch or more, higher on the right side of the spool....and the backlashing begins. It's been doing this since I bought it. I use it a lot so if I can't get this issue resolved I guess I'll have to buy another high speed reel. I would rather fix this one....but I'm open to suggestions on a new reel (7.1.1 gear ratio +/-, low profile, under $150). Not thinking good thoughts about Shimano at the moment.

Check the pawl cap to ensure its not loose or backed off...it does not have to be monster tight but it should be snug

If nothing else you can send it to me to fix

Daiwa Tatula all day long in that price range. I fix, clean, repair alot of reels and all I own is Daiwa. Their quality is top notch IMO. Even in their cheaper lineup. Lew's is also a good choice. I notice alot of guys sticking with older shimanos Mainly E-series and older so that should say something about the newer stuff.

Yep...can't argue with that. The new Shimano Citica just isn't what it used to be. Been looking at Lew's reels for a while...I'll check out the Diawa Tatula, too. Thanks for your 2cents thumb
