I saw a couple of videos where Biffle shows how he fishes the Hardhead.
He uses a 3/4 to 1oz and fishes it as fast as he can staying in contact with the bottom. He said that he likes having a rocky bottom but will fish it other places as well.
I have never used one and always thought it was more for pitching or flipping.

I'll be at Grand Lake this week and plan on giving it a shot, just figured I'd see who's use this technique before.

It works very well on hard or rocky bottom areas. I put on a trick worm or a finesse worm to compliment it. Trick worm goes wacky style and yes, it DOES catch fish. Hope his helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

It works. I personally use the 7/16 size most of the time and drag it.

I pitch them around docks and bulkheads then crawl them back, works great. Also does well as a search bait. I use some sort of creature bait or craw typically. Rage craws work well but if you drag em too fast they tend to raise off the bottom.

All the time. One of my favorite baits.

Yes. It has become my go to bait with a Havoc pit boss. I fish it like Biffle does and I slow it down, just keeping it moving on the bottom. I use it everywhere, even deep grass lines, and pitching it around docks and laydowns.

Good bait on grand too! Had a lot of success over spring break w/ 11/16 on "look like nothing" round flat points

A suspending jerkbait might be a good bait to throw at Grand right now.
The hardhead is a reel bait.
Reel it in keeping contact with cover, whether it be rocks or wood.
Not really the best pitching or flipping bait.

Like the Strike King Structure Head and Rage Structure Bug better. Also like to swim it through grass.

Taking my Jerkbaits but I hear the water is still very muddy from all the rain earlier in the year so I don't know how effective they will be.
May be good chatter bait and spinnerbaits with large Colorado blade time.

Thanks

I like the one made by Bayou Tackle down there close to you Danny. I think the one I use the most is 3/4 oz but it feels a little lighter than most other 3/4 oz heads. I like the Beaver baits better.
