The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our annual Open tournament on Saturday March 26th. 41 boats came out to try and catch some fish and a few succeeded although Ol Mother Hubbard lived up to her name for a lot of us. As always this time of year though Hubbard gave up a few really good sacks. Bo Dupree and Bubba Young won it with 5 for 22.27 that included big bass of the tournament with an 8.33. Here are full results and pictures.

We debuted our new scales at the Open and they worked flawlessly. Here are Dale Rettman and Kelly Millhollon doing their work.

Weigh in was held on the patio at Chandlers and a crowd gathered to watch. Of course, Jerry brown was in the middle of it all talking just a little trash.

Cameron Laing and Patrick Sharp worked all day for this Hubbard special.

Gary Lee fished solo and weighed in one Hubbard bass.

Shawn Garber and David Taylor came out for the first time this year. They weighed 2 for 6.83

Garrett Macias fished with Rusty Kinser and shows off their three fish.

Jason Hadley and Joey Eaves also had three.

Doc Taylor fished with John McCalmont and also weighed in three.

Finishing Lucky 13th were me and my partner Chris Atkinson. Holding that fish was the closest I got to one all day. smile

Preston Smith and David Horton had 4 for 12.06 that included a 4.98.

Finishing sixth and getting the last check were high school anglers Matthew Sprague and Cameron McAnally with 5 for 15.95. Watch out for them at the big high school tournament on Ray Hubbard this Saturday!

Always dangerous on their home lake, Tommy and Tony Climer finished fifth with 5 for 16.72

Walter Archer and Jeff Meier finished fourth with 5 for 18.17 that included a 5.88

Finishing third were long time Hubbard vets Nathan King and Keith Trimble with 5 for 18.59 that included second big bass of the tournament with an 8.26

Finishing second were RHBC members Joe Ruiz and Paul Villarreal with 5 for 22.05. A half pound dead fish penalty cost them dearly on this day. Great job guys!

Bubba wouldn't come up and help Bo with the winning bag, so here is Bo with a little help showing off three of the winning 5 for 22.27

Here's a little closer look at the 8.33 big bass. Congratulations to Bo and Bubba!

Thanks to everyone that came out on a holiday weekend to fish with us. Thanks to all our members for helping things run smoothly and special thanks to Kenny Bunch, Dale Rettman and Kelly Millhollon for a job well done! If you are interested in joining RHBC, our next meeting is this Thursday night at Bass Pro Garland. You can find info in the Bass Clubs section. Our next Tournament is this Saturday at Lake Tawakoni. Hope to see you there!

Thanks guys! Really enjoyed how you called the groups up to weigh in by boat number. Great idea!! Had fun as always.
