So I have always been a believer in Berkley XL smooth casting line. But here recently I am having major issues with line memory , fraying , and breaking off on small fish for no apparent reason. I am strongly considering changing brand. What line do you guys recommend? Anywhere from 6lb to 17lb test.

I haven't tried everything by any means, but I really like Sunline FX2 over the other brands that I have tried; varieties from PowerPro, several varieties from Spiderwire, and Hiseas braid.

I'm usually using 50lb lines though, not sure about the lighter versions.

From what I have researched, the FX2 is thinner/lb than most every other brand as well.

P-line CX or CXX. Never had any problems with it. Have tried other lines but always go back.

Sunline Super Natural Monfilament

I definitely recommend you try this line! It's the best monfilament I've ever used. This line is super strong and even more limp, with superior knot strength. When you spool the Super Natural on your reel, it feels like a high dollar line. It has just the right amount of stretch; not a lot but not too little! At only $10 a box, you can't go wrong with this line.

Agree with this unless you want to switch to Fluorocarbon. 12 or 15 pound have always served me well.

Yup..and the floroclear works great! Got some 15lb and has low memory and good casting. No fraying so far either.
