After hooking up with Brian (lite-liner) on here we met up at the ramp Sunday and headed out to nice conditions. Rolled 24-25 knots all the way to our 1st stop at a deep rock. Started out trolling for hoos with no luck but kept seeing fish on the sounder that were setting up like AJ so we pulled the trolling rigs and Brian & Cody started jigging. First bites were some nice endangered red snapper that we tossed back.

Worked around the rock a bit and I see the AJ on the sounder again holding around 200 ft. Cody and Brian drop and bam double hook up. Brian's fish took his jig for a souvenir and my son lands the other.

Worked back into them again and we lose another. As my fishermen we're re-rigging I decided to show em the captain can catch fish to. First drop and I get this one in.

Lost one more and they shut off. We decided to run to another rock and try for vermillion snapper. Had a really hard time getting them with all the red snapper but managed a few for the box. Had a great show when the last snapper Brian brought in got grabbed by a big sandbar shark right below the boat. He kept teasing the shark with the head until I reminded him that it was on one of his favorite jigs that the shark was about to claim along with the snapper head. lol
All in all a great day on the water. It got so calm by noon you could have run a bay boat wide open out there. We had a blast, loaded up the freezer with tasty eats and gained a new fishing buddy. Brian is a class act, a heck of a fisherman and welcome on my boat anytime. Seems I always meet great people from this TFF board.
Tight lines to all!!!!

In all my years fishing out there I have never caught or seen a cuda over one of the rock humps.

Hey now!!! I was planning on seeing if he wanted to join us for some marlin action when the billfish move in soon...don't want any cudas up taking my expensive marlin lures. We might have to stow him away secretly and get a disguise for him to wear while trolling. LOL

Not to worry .... he should be good for the boat when you troll for marlin. You see .... the cuda will hit HIS bait not yours. Just be sure to make him furnish his own trolling lures or pay you for the ones he loses to cudas. smile

it's true, Wayne. I was previously cursed but a Venice juju woman cured me.

Hey Mr. Liner,

That really does look like a Snapper coughing up a hairball!! But great report guys. Wondered if you all happened to go down Southeast. Noticed the Noble Jim Day and one of its siblings were about 30 miles SE of Port A. If they stay there for long that could be a cool place to go down and fish.
